This morning I got up and did something I haven’t done in far too long…go for a pre-dawn run. There is something truly magical about being alone on the trail in the dark before even the swans and other birds begin their morning rituals. Most of the time I don’t even bother with switching the head torch on, there’s usually enough of a glow from the moon and stars and the slowly awakening Sol that it’s unnecessary and even feels somehow obtrusive. The mist wraps around the canal and dampens my footfall and breathing in such a way that I feel somehow lighter and freer than usual.
Perfect start to the day.
